Berlin.Industrial.Group. recognised as "family-friendly company"

Since the beginning of this year, B.I.G. has been part of the company network "Family as a key factor of success". The network is a central platform for companies that are interested in a family-oriented human resources strategy or already committed in this field. Anne Balke, Head of Human Resources Management of Berlin.Industrial.Group. explains what the network is about and what she sees as the potential benefits for B.I.G.

What is the company network “Family as a key success factor” about?

Anne Balke: The company network is promoted by the German Federal Ministry of Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth and by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce. It is a knowledge platform for companies that are committed to implementing family-friendly policies by way of a mutual exchange of information. The companies can ask questions about any issues they may have and support each other by exchanging information. In addition, the network also provides a wide range of information materials. At present, more than 7,000 companies of different sizes are members of the network. Companies with outstanding levels of family-friendliness can be awarded a kind of quality seal – and we already are proud bearers of this seal! In addition, the network organises numerous events and discussion groups where we can find inspiration or seek advice. An important topic is still rather underestimated but will become increasingly relevant over the next few years, which is the topic of family members in need of care.

What are the advantages of being a member of this network? 

Although we have already established far-reaching family-friendly policies, we always look for new ideas in order to determine topics which may become important for our employees and which are not on our radar at present. What is actually really relevant and what might be superfluous? I particularly value the intensive exchange with other companies, for example with comparable medium-sized companies located in and around Berlin.

The seal of quality enables us to demonstrate that we already have plenty to offer. This is particularly helpful when it comes to recruiting and employer branding. We are a family-friendly employer with an open ear if the personal situation requires it.
