Berlin.Industrial.Group. (B.I.G.) hosted WAAMathon #1 Berlin, a new conference on wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM). Participants from research and industry used the opportunity not only to learn about current developments, but also for exchange. The B.I.G. group of companies includes GEFERTEC GmbH, which has developed arc machines, a system that has proven itself in numerous industrial applications. By hosting the conference, B.I.G. demonstrates its technology leadership in this important additive manufacturing technology.
The spectrum of presentations at WAAMathon #1 ranged from current research results to practical aspects, such as quality assurance and digital tools for the value chain, to concrete application examples. Igor Haschke, who hosted the event as a shareholder of B.I.G. and managing director of GEFERTEC GmbH, expressed his satisfaction and also gave an outlook for the future: “Our goal is to establish the WAAMathon as a regular conference that creates a corresponding community.”
